Country Star Trace Adkins Opens Up About House Fire, Family’s Safety, and His Special Bond With Dogs
Country music icon Trace Adkins recently shared an emotional and heartfelt story during a live interview from Nashville, Tennessee — a tale that reminded fans just how quickly life can change, and how precious family, including our four-legged friends, really are.
The star’s home was tragically destroyed in a fire, but the silver lining was that his wife, daughters, and their beloved dogs all made it out safely. Adkins was out of town at the time, en route to Alaska for a fishing trip, when he got the devastating call.
“As soon as I landed, I heard about it,” Adkins said. “We lost the house, but everyone’s okay — that’s what truly matters.”
Despite his wife’s encouragement to stay in Alaska and finish the trip, Adkins couldn’t help but worry about the optics. “I told her to put her publicist hat back on,” he joked. “Because I could just see the headlines: ‘Trace Adkins Goes Fishing While Family Loses Home.’ Not a great look!”
Beyond the tragedy, Adkins is turning his attention to something close to his heart: dogs. He’s partnering with Wagon Train brand dog treats to launch a fun and feel-good nationwide contest — the first-ever Tail Waggin’ Jingle Contest. Participants are encouraged to write a 60-second jingle about their dog, with the chance to win a trip to Nashville and record their song with Adkins in a professional studio.
“I love my dogs. They’re like family,” Adkins shared. “When I heard my wife and kids were safe, my next thought was, ‘What about the dogs?’ So this project means a lot to me.”
When asked for advice for jingle contestants, Adkins kept it simple: “There are no rules, no specific genre — just be creative and have fun with it. I can’t wait to hear what people come up with.”
The contest runs until August 3rd, and submissions can be entered at WagonTrainBrand.com.
In the face of personal loss, Trace Adkins continues to show resilience, humor, and heart — especially when it comes to the people and pets he loves most
